The max daily loss
How the daily floor is set each midnight and why floating losses count.
The max daily loss protects against one bad day destroying an account. It is a floor that resets every day.
How the floor is calculated
At midnight Central European time (it follows daylight saving), the floor for the new day is set to:
today's floor = balance at midnight − daily loss % × initial balance
Your equity, including floating losses, swaps and commissions, must stay above this floor until the next midnight.
| Program | Daily loss |
|---|---|
| 2-Step (both phases and funded) | 5% |
| 1-Step | 3% |
| Instant | 3% |
Examples on a $100,000 2-Step account (5%)
- Day 1 starts at $100,000. Floor: $95,000.
- You close the day at $102,000. Day 2 floor: $102,000 − $5,000 = $97,000.
- You close day 2 at $99,000. Day 3 floor: $99,000 − $5,000 = $94,000.
The allowance is always 5% of the initial balance, $5,000 here, measured from wherever the balance stood at midnight.
Floating losses count
If you have $3,000 of closed losses and an open trade $2,100 in loss, equity is $5,100 below the day's start and the account is breached, even if the trade would have recovered. The platform checks every second.
